SPRING painting Challenge
Lily of the Valley
In France, traditionally, sprigs of lily of the valley are handed out to family members and friends on Fête du Muguet (or Labour Day, May 1). It's a tradition that has been celebrated for many years, since the 16th Century, and is seen as a symbol of good luck for the upcoming year.
HOW to go about this painting?
- Trace off the outline of the flowers including the stems and leave it all the white of the paper.
- Put a pale wash of mixed greens all round the drawing. Leave to dry.
- Then shade the flowers with a very pale grey to create the 3D shape complete the stems and add darker greens to the background.
- Remember the darker the background the more the flowers will stand out Do my course on Colour Values
